SAN FRANCISCO: THE LAND OF HILLS AND WIND

Don't visit San Francisco in a car. You'll spend more time looking for a parking spot than actually enjoying the city. Alright, I'm exaggerating just a bit. Aside from the nonexistent street parking, the hills and tight turns are worrisome at best and horrifying if there's a truck or bus coming the other direction. But in the end, the beauty and amount of things to do and places to see and things to eat definitely outweigh the driving experience.

This post is mostly pictures. Because there was so much I did and still so much more to do, it's hard to write a complete post for SF. Beaches. A red bridge. Food. All the food. I even ventured out to Napa and Sonoma for a little champs and grape juice.

A few highlights:

- Tartine Bakery (the morning bun pictured below was top notch)

- Don't bother with Pier 39. It's carnivally, touristy and the seals kind of smell dead. There's no need to eat at Bubba Gump's when you can eat at a local eatery or farmer's market.

- Farmer's markets. I need more of them. Everyday of the week. Not just the freshest of fruits, homemade goods and food trucks. Yes, I'm talking about pastries here. Flaky buttery layers of croissants and Nutella twists.

In the next post: hopefully more writing. Couldn't get motivated to write this post, it took too long and too much procrastination.

Next up: Picking up my dad from the St. Louis airport, the Gateway Arch and on our way to Kentucky. Not for the derby, for the bourbon, duh.

Needs another visit: Kansas City

Miles driven: 6,426.7

Average gas mileage: 37.4
