KANSAS: QUITE PLAIN

This is going to be a shorter post.

Kansas was actually pretty fun. The drive, not so much. Imagine driving down the same road, nothing to look at but flat grass and maybe a farm. For over five hours. My boredom eating took over. 3 oranges. 2 cheese sticks. Salmon jerky. All mostly just to keep me interested in driving.

A fellow couch surfer reached out to me awhile ago asking me to visit Lawrence, KS (ya I had never heard of it either) and share my experience so far in solo travel because she too was going to be leaving soon for world-wide solo travel! I took a chance and stayed with an awesome stranger. We shared pizza and wine and stories about travel and tattoos. The next morning, I took a little walk through Lawrence before I headed out to Kansas City MISSOURI.

I wish I had had more time in KCMO. There was plenty there to explore and experience, but alas I need to get to the airport in St. Louis to pick up my dad. I did make it out to the amazing art museum, nearly got kicked out as they closed (I just wanted to wander more!). I had a wonderful dinner and drinks with my old intern from TL and his wife (who made an awesome veggie lasagna) and left really wanting to spend more time in the city. Maybe something for the future!

Currently I'm in Myrtle Beach, SC where the rain from DC to NC has followed me relentlessly. Tomorrow I pick up my mom in Charleston, SC where she'll try to convince me to go on haunted tours of Charleston and Savannah.
